Koseki checklist before you translate
Family register (戸籍) pages are dense. A clear photo and the right certificate type save a day of back-and-forth.
戸籍は情報量が多い書類です。証明書の種類と撮影の仕方が分かっていると、見積り〜納品が早くなります。
1. Confirm the certificate type
- Certificate of All Matters(全部事項証明)— full current register; often requested for spouse / family visas.
- Revised original koseki(改製原戸籍)— older register format; needed when history before reform matters.
- Removed register(除籍)— when the person has left that register.
提出先が「全部事項」「改製原」など指定していることが多いので、案内文を一緒に送ってください。
2. What officers usually compare
- Full names (kanji + any kana / romanization used on forms)
- Dates of birth, marriage, divorce, death — keep Japanese era dates as on the original; we render them accurately in English
- Relationship lines (spouse, children, parents)
- Domicile(本籍)and registry office seals
Photo tip
Shoot each page flat, fill the frame, avoid finger shadows. If the page is long, send top + bottom overlapping shots — we can merge.

1頁を画面いっぱいに。長い頁は上下を少し重ねて2枚送ると安心です。
3. What you get back
Layout-faithful English pages with translator name, date, contact, and seal — print-ready PDF, usually interleaved with your originals when you need a pack.
